The four new Research, Innovation, and Dissemination Centers from FAPESP came out of the 2024 call covering the broad areas of Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine
FAPESP announces the creation of four new Research, Innovation, and Dissemination Centers (RIDCs) working in the areas of Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine.
The proposals were selected from a call launched in 2024 for the creation of new centers. This call is the third of the six announcements that make up the third cycle for the establishment of CEPIDs, which started in 2021 and will be completed in 2026.
The announcements provide for the creation of new centers in three major areas of knowledge: Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Veterinary (themes of the 2021 and 2024 editions); Human and Social Sciences, Architecture and Urbanism, Economics and Administration (2022 edition); and Exact and Earth Sciences and Engineering (2023 and 2025 editions).
The CEPIDs bring together researchers around fundamental or applied research questions, aiming to contribute to innovation through technology transfer, as well as offering educational activities and knowledge dissemination. The four new centers join the 12 CEPIDs that are currently in operation.
According to the call for proposals, each of the four new CEPIDs will receive annual funding of BRL 10 million in the initial five-year phase – in total, they could receive support for up to 11 years.
