Four centers were selected in the call focused on Exact Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Engineering.
FAPESP announces the result of the third submission cycle of proposals in the third call for the Research Centers, Innovation, and Diffusion Program (RIDC).
The cycle was focused on the broad area of Exact Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Engineering, with pre-proposals received until January 29, 2024, and complete proposals until August 2, 2024.
If any of the proponents have justification to contest the result of the proposal judgment, they may submit an appeal in electronic form (download it here), within 10 (ten) calendar days from the date of publication of the result on the FAPESP portal and the availability of the opinions to the proponents.
Initiated in 1998, the RIDC program aims to finance the establishment of world-class research centers, committed to the development of research, the training of human resources, the transfer of technology and the dissemination of knowledge to society.
In the first call for proposals, in 1998, proposals for the creation of 10 RIDCs were selected, and in the second, in 2011, 17. The current notice provides for the constitution of 18 Centers, to be chosen between 2021 and 2026 in six cycles of submission of proposals divided by area of knowledge.
In the first cycle, in 2021, proposals for CEPIDs in the areas of Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Veterinary were submitted; the second cycle, in 2022, selected proposals for Centers in Human and Social Sciences, Architecture and Urbanism, Economics, and Administration. The announcement of the pre-approved proposals for the fourth cycle of CEPIDs, covering the areas of Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Agronomy and Veterinary, is also scheduled for July.
